Several competitions were played over the past week at Orkney Golf Club.
Last Wednesday, 19 played in the 14th round of the summer league. Third spot went to Steven Walls with a gross 66 nett 64 which remarkably wasn’t good enough for top gross, as Steven Rendall pipped him with a 65 for second spot on 63 nett. Top spot however went to Bob Adamson with a fine nett 62.
Saturday saw a good entry of 42 looking to win the September medals. In the first division, Alan Donaldson was 3rd on 67 while Liam Smart was second on 66. Best gross was Michael Schinkel with a 72, while winning the medal was John Thomson with a fine nett 65.
Third in the second division, on countback, was Calvin Reid on 67. Countback again decided the top spots. Second was Bob Clouston on 66. Winning with the same score was top Reid on the day, Owen, who pipped both Bob and his Pops for the win .
Monday then saw the zimmers flying around the course as the seniors September medal took place. Another nice day tempted 19 out on to the course.
Third spot, on 38 stableford points, was Brian Firth; second was the on form John Thomson with 39 points and amassing an excellent score of 43 points, was Chris George for the victory.
On 16th and 17th September, the gents Inter-County takes place over the course on both Saturday and Sunday. We look forward to welcoming our northern friends for another both competitive and social weekend.
